Akron/Family: Love Is Simple, and fall tours

Posted by Flick in News on 09 17th, 2007 | View Comments

Akron/Family is about to release the anticipated Love Is Simple, set for September 24 on Young God Records. The four piece is known for energetic live shows, and has received much love from music blogs for their experimental freak folk songs. Akron/Family spent two weeks tracking the album with Andrew Weiss (Ween) at Zion House Of Flesh in New Jersey.

Akron/Family
are currently touring with Megafaun and Greg Davis in the East, Midwest, and Ontario. Megafaun and Greg Davis are not only opening for Akron/Family, they are performing in their band during the tour, stretching Akron/Family into an eight-piece. The month of October will find them touring the West Coast with the Dodos.

Exhausted from extensive touring, Akron/Family members spent a year away from each other in 2006. But the magnetic pull of writing music brought them back together for the better part of a year, piecing songs together for Love Is Simple.

“This record is both a love letter to the past and a launching pad into the future. And in a way not before captured, this record has the unmistakable field holler of friendship and brotherhood… Hues from all our records emerge and then dematerialize back into the portaled journey from beginnings to new ends. On the way we see the friendly sounds we love so much only to have them eventually submerge back into the watered universal womb to prepare for what is TRULY next, what new lunged Hendrixian wonder world lays ahead for humanity and sound.”

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
