A new life

Posted by Flick in Puddlegum on 09 13th, 2009 | View Comments
The past twelve months have been one of the strangest spans in my life. I spent most of 2008 recording music and prepping for the label, so when things fell apart it took me a while to find myself again. In the past year we’ve dealt with death and new life, leaving our old home and moving into a new one, starting a new job and restarting school.
With all of this it has been difficult to focus on music. This was in part due to dealing with disappointment. When I would start blogging, I couldn’t stop. And when I stopped, I couldn’t start. The consistency wasn’t in me. I needed some time to collect my thought and emotions.
So what’s going on now?
I relocated to Bloomington, Indiana four weeks ago, with my wife and two children so I can finish my degree. This short period of time has already been rejuvenating for my soul. I’ve been able to attend shows again and think about how I can get involved with this unique scene.
I decided to start a local blog to cover the music of Bloomington. We’ve already developed a small writing team, with plans to expand. I’ll formally announce the new blog shortly.
What does this mean about Puddlegum? To be honest, It means that I’ll continue. It’s easier to write about music when you’re in the mode of writing. I was able to stay consistent for several years so I know it’ll feel natural again.
So I’m going to shows again and meeting artistically minded people. It has been refreshing and is lifting me out of this numb state that I had been in. Thanks for being patient.

about us

Puddlegum began in 1997 as one of the first online music magazines. It is managed by Flick, and has gained respect from many in the recording industry.

Over the years Puddlegum has accomplished quite a few things we are proud of:
Being mentioned by Thom Yorke during a BBC Radio interview (concerning our Tens Theory), and being written about in Rolling Stone. We have also made the front page of TUAW, Digg, and VH1’s Best Week Ever, and have been featured on USA Today, and Reuters.
